Obituary

Carrie Grace (Woolley) West was born January 12, 1916, at Stonington, Colorado, to Frank and Agnes Woolley, and entered into her new life on December 3, 2011.

Carrie spent her youth on a farm near Stonington with her brothers and sisters. She was ingenious at using whatever was available to make toys to amuse her younger siblings.

Carrie was married to Chester West at age 17. To this union four children were born, one boy and three girls; Sherrill, Carolee, Glorinda (Johnny) and Norma. Carrie's married years were spent in Walsh, Colorado, and various cities in Kansas. After her divorce she returned to Walsh with her children where she lived for 60 years. She devoted her life to her children and worked very hard to support her family.

She worked as a waitress at Dapron's Café and other restaurants for several years. Next she worked for Cogburn's Grocery as a clerk.

In 1958 she moved to Englewood, Colorado, to attend a beauty college where she pursued a career for which she always showed a talent. She returned to Walsh and opened Carrie's Beauty Salon. She operated her shop until she retired at age 62.

Her retirement gave her more time to spend with the grandchildren and to pursue her many hobbies. She was a lifelong gardener, growing all kinds of vegetables and many beautiful flowers. Carrie was an avid bowler. She won many awards and traveled to a number of state tournaments. Sewing, crocheting and cooking were also favorite pastimes. Carrie's children have fond memories of delicious meals for family gatherings and always marveled at the fact that no project they requested was beyond her ability.

Carrie was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Walsh. She loved the Lord and was one of His caring servants.

She lived her last six years at the Long Term Care Center in Springfield, Colorado.

Carrie was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Agnes Woolley, four sisters, five brothers, a son-in-law, Gerald Norton and an infant great-granddaughter, Ariel Freestone.
