IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Delano John
Alley
September 1, 1933 – August 20, 2019
Delano John Alley was born on September 1st, 1933 in Stroud,
Oklahoma to Leo and Wilda Alley. He had four sisters - Betty, Norma,
Leona, and Jessie and one brother named Leo Jr. He went to school and
graduated from Stroud High School. At Stroud High, Delano played
football, and really loved all sports. He was awarded a scholarship to play
football at PAMC in Goodwell, Oklahoma, where he played all four years
and enjoyed the winning seasons. It was also there that he met the lovely
Miss Romaine Hanes. Delano was drafted into the army and went through
his basic army training. After his training, Del and Romaine were married.
For the next two years, they lived in Arkansas, Georgia, Maryland, and
Pennsylvania as Del worked in the military. He was honorably discharged
after two years.
In the Fall of 1958, Del and Romaine moved back to the ranch south
of Walsh and Delano began working for Roy Hanes. Soon they began to
build their family, beginning with Del Jr. and then Dana, Daryl, Joe and Jay.
Their five sons brought much joy and pride to their parents, and they
worked hard and played hard living life together on the ranch. Daryl, Joe
and Jay were taken from this family in tragic accidents, but Romaine and
Delano continued to be very proud and thankful for Delly and Dana.
Delly married Tami Bryan of Walsh and they had three children -
Christopher, Sarah and Katie Alley. Christopher married Chandra Hunter
and they now have four children of their own - Lilliah, Carson, Isaiah, and
Caleb. They live in Milan, Italy. Sarah married Nicholas Kantor and they
also have four children of their own - Alyvia, Jackson, William, and Hannah
Kantor and they live in Manhattan, Kansas. Katie married Colby Sires and
they have had three children - Emalyn, Conley, and Creede Sires and
another baby due in December.
Dana married Kelly Perkins of Campo and they had four children -
Logan, Shalee, Aubree and Laken. Aubree married Robert Powers, and
Logan married Jayci Bryan and they have four children - Ava, Dallas, Mia,
and Sofia Alley. Shalee married Kyle Sniff and they have two children -
Brendon and Jolee Sniff.
Delano worked for sixty years farming and ranching and enjoyed his
work. He also enjoyed coaching little league baseball and many other
sports. Square dancing, playing golf and softball, fishing, and camping and
traveling with his friends and neighbors were also hobbies that Del enjoyed.
He served on the Walsh School Board for eight years and also served on
the Bank Board at Keyes, Oklahoma for many years. Watching his sons
and grandchildren in their sports and supporting them as they played for
Walsh High School was a passion of his, too.
Together, Delano and Romaine shared the joys of spending time with
two sons and their wives and seven grandchildren and seventeen :fRed-
grandchildren with one on the way. Del was very proud of all of his family.
He leaves behind friends and wonderful family and his beloved wife of 63
years. He is sadly missed by all.
