Obituary

Anyone who knew Dad well knew he had a story to stop and tell, and then be on his way.

Delbert Leon England stopped in on February 13, 1923, and began telling his story to his parents, J.W. and Etta England, and brothers, Don, Alfred, Ernest, Emmitt and Forest. Later he told his stories to children Francis, Frank, Linda Kay, Charlene, Justin, Dana and William; and also to grandchildren, Patty, Julie, Bobby, Michele, Michaela, Trent, Troy, Monica, Jeremiah, Christopher, Tiffany, Jonathan, Becky and Cordell. Michelle England and Leroy and Esther were entitled to hear his special stories as well.

Dad proudly served in the Navy as Seaman 1st Class/Navy gunner on the Idaho from May 29, 1944 to June 8, 1946.

Dad had many jobs over the years. The most memorable to him was the Walsh Police. He remembered who did what and liked to repeat the story to them and their children.

Whether in town or to the farm, it was a game to him to see how far he would have to walk before he got a ride. He always knew it wouldn't be far. He would say he wasn't worried; Deanie would probably be along.

The most special things he left behind are his stories and poems and things made of wood that he had written and made over the years.

God saw him getting tired, a cure not meant to be, so He wrapped His arms around him and whispered, "Come with Me." Dad finished his story and went on his way September 9, 2011.

Dad leaves behind to remember his stories: Francis Mobley of Independence, MO, Frank (Tresa) England of Rangely, CO, Linda Kay (Alex) Wold of Canon City, CO, Charlene (Dennis) Rogers of Johnson, KS, Justin England of Peabody, KS, Dana (Lyndell) Herron of Manter, KS, William England of Walsh, and Michelle England of Walsh; thirteen grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many others, because a stranger Dad never met.

Dad was preceded in death by both parents, five brothers, and two grandchildren.
