Obituary

Donald E. Moller was born on December 5, 1923 in Ashland, Nebraska to Edward and Lavona Moller. He departed this life on the evening of August 6, 2014 at the Walsh Healthcare Center in Walsh, Colorado at the age of 90. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Lavona; and his daughter, Janice Humphrey. Donald is survived by his wife, Velda, son Jerry and wife Marsha of Amarillo, Texas; son-in-law Leon Humphrey of Elkhart, Kansas; sister Verla Barr of McMinnville, Oregon and brother Craig Moller of Ashland, Nebraska; grandchildren Lance and wife Kristen Moller of Delray Beach, Florida; Ryan Moller of Amarillo, Texas; Jud and wife Corrie Moller of Amarillo, Texas; Kevin Humphrey of Crossroads, Texas; Kendall and wife Carol Humphrey of Crossroads, Texas; Jared and wife Sara Humphrey of Murphy, Texas; and Jeremy and wife Tasha Humphrey of Carthage, Texas; great grandchildren MaKenzie, Riley, Matney, Noah, Jackson, and Samantha Moller; Conner, Evan and Cade Humphrey; and nieces, nephews, and relatives. Donald's family lived in Ashland, Nebraska during his early years and later moved to a farm in Elsie, Nebraska where he graduated high school. He then attended Colorado Springs Bible College and upon graduation became an ordained minister first serving at Haigler, Nebraska then Arthur, Nebraska; Oshkosh, Nebraska; Campo, Colorado; Imperial, Nebraska; Walsh, Colorado; Vilas, Colorado; and finished his pastoral ministry at Walsh Wesleyan Church. Upon retirement, Donald had served 50 years in the ministry. Donald and Velda Felsburg were married on June 30, 1944 and recently celebrated 70 years together. Don and Velda were blessed with two wonderful children. Donald was devoted to his wife, children, and all congregations he served. He was a faithful husband and a kind and caring father and grandfather. Donald loved people, especially children and served as a school bus driver in many of the communities he resided in. Donald also loved the outdoors and animals. He was known in Baca County to own, trade, and sell rabbits and pigeons. All who knew him will miss his practical jokes and his sense of humor. He was blessed with a green thumb which was evident by his vegetable gardens and lawns tended. Due to Donald's hard work and dedication, the Vilas and Walsh cemeteries always looked beautiful and manicured.
Donald spent his later years at the Walsh Healthcare Center where he was loved and appreciated by residents and staff members. At the Walsh Healthcare Center he received excellent and gracious care. The family is very grateful to all those who cared for him during his stay at the Walsh Healthcare Center. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
