December 26, 1918 – February 17, 2019
Dorothy Ochoa, long time resident of Walsh Colorado, passed away on February 18, 2019 at the
age of 100 years, 1 month and 23 days.
Dorothy was born on December 27, 1918 to Juan and Maria Salinas at Bayard Nebraska. She was
the second of 12 children. Juan moved the family to Delta Colorado when Dorothy was about 3 or 4
years old. She had many fond memories of her childhood in that area. Later the family moved to the
Ordway--Sugar City Colorado area. She attended school at Numa, a small community school a few miles
from Ordway.
On December 5, 1937 Dorothy married Antonio Ochoa in Ordway Colorado. To this union was
born three sons and three daughters. Tony and Dorothy began their life together farming sugar beets in
the Ordway-Sugar City area. On January 2, 1940 Dorothy was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses.
In 1954 the family moved to Ulysses Kansas and in 1957 to Walsh Colorado.
For the next 62 years Dorothy planted her gardens and flowers and baked her beautiful pies and
touched the hearts of all who came to know and love her.
Dorothy is survived by Sandy and Retha, Lupe Vallejos, Hellen and Harry Rowe, Richard's wife
Shirley and Debbie Lemke. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 22 great
great grandchildren. She is also survived by 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Preceding Dorothy in death was her husband-Antonio, two sons-Richard and Toby, a
granddaughter- Nikki Lemke, great granddaughter Jazzy McKinley, and great great granddaughter
Nevaeh McKinley. Also preceding her in death are four brothers and 1 sister.
In her 100 years of life Dorothy's great faith has left us all a good legacy to live by.
She will be greatly missed and forever remembered!
