Dorothy June ( Gillespie ) Rodgers was born on November 2, 1921 in Baca County at Konantz, Coloerado, to John William and Alice May (Byers) Gillespie. She lived almost her whole life in Baca County, Colorado, and was living in Springfield at the time of her death. She passed from this life to her Heavenly home on January 26, 2014, at the age of 92 years, 2 months, and 24 days. She gave her life to the Lord in 1941 and was baptized in 1943. Her siblings included four sisters, Ruth, Nellie, Mary, and Mavis. and one brother John, all of whom preceded her in death. She married Tony Carl Rodgers on May 2, 1942 in Yuma, Arizona, during the time Tony was working at the aircraft factory in San Diego, California. To this union were born seven children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony, two sons, Ronald Gale, Donald Carl, three daughters, Janet Joan, Judith Elaine, and Janell Lorraine. Also preceding her in death was one grand daughter, and two great grand children. Survivors include one son, Dennis Lynn(Linda), Waka, Texas, one daughter, Carla McCuistion (Floyd), Guthrie, Oklahoma, and one daughter-in-law Kay Rodgers (Donald) , Perryton, Texas. Survivors also include 11 grand children, 10 great grand children, and 1 great great grand daughter.
Dorothy was a hard worker, helping Tony on the farm and being a mother and grandmother to her children. Her hobbies included playing the piano, cooking, crocheting, and spending time with her family. She loved to play the piano and sing for the Lord. She was church pianist for 62 years.
