Obituary

Ernest Fay Frazee, age 91, of Walsh, Colorado passed away Sunday, October 11, 2015 at the Walsh Healthcare Center with his family by his side. Fay was born July 13, 1924 in Liberal, Kansas to Whitney and Alta Frazee. Fay started school in Anderson, Indiana and in 1935 the family moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado where Fay finished school. June 19, 1944, Fay joined the United States Marine Corps in Kansas City, Kansas. After boot camp in San Diego, California he was sent to Maui to prepare for Iwo Jima. On February 19, 1945 Fay landed on the beach of Iwo Jima and on March 8, 1945 was wounded and was soon back in the United States. Fay was honorably discharged on November 19, 1945, receiving the Purple Heart.

Fay met Venita Louise Lease in December 1945 and after 7 months of courting they were united in marriage on August 20, 1946 in Syracuse, Kansas. Fay and Venita had four children Beverley, Larry, Verlene, and Ethel. Later on Mike, Fay's nephew, came to live with the family. Fay farmed and sold Pioneer Seed for many years. In 1962 they started a daycare and shortly after started driving the school bus. Fay also worked for the county as the Noxious Weed Sprayer for a time. So many kids called him grandpa and he was 'grandpa' to all of them. He enjoyed raising, riding and caring for horses for many years, farmed and had a few cattle even some milk cows. He liked to hunt and liked to do a little leather craft on occasion. He wouldn't miss his grandkids playing football, wrestling, baseball or any other sport either, but those were his favorites. Fay enjoyed life to the fullest and always had a story to tell. He instilled in his family the values of life. Fay taught everyone he knew to be proud of who you are! Fay lived everyday by God, Country, Family, and the Marine Corps. Fay was a hero to many.

Fay is survived by his wife, Venita of Walsh, Colorado; daughters Beverley Haney and husband Bill of Johnson, Kansas, Verlene Murray and husband Tom of Moses Lake, Washington, Ethel Cook and husband Stan of Walsh, Colorado; sons Larry Frazee and wife Bev of Walsh, Colorado, Mike Frazee and wife Patty of Aurora, Colorado; sisters LaMyrtha Frazier and Melba Janke both of Moses Lake, Washington; 16 grandkids, 30 great grandkids and 1 great great granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.

Fay is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and one granddaughter.

Funeral services will be Friday, October 16, 2015 at 1:00pm MST at the Walsh High School Gym. Dykes Funeral home is in charge of arrangements. Kenton Dykes and Steve Doner will be officiating the services. Interment will follow in the Walsh Cemetery. Pall bearers are Fay's six grandsons and flower girls are his 10 granddaughters.
