IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edna Mae
Herron
April 3, 1930 – September 23, 2023
Edna Mae was born to Rinaldo Epler and Margaret Edna Webster April 3, 1930 at her grandmother Seraphine (Dean) Olinger/Whitehead's home near Stonington, Colorado. Edna Mae passed from this life September 23, 2023. She lived with her family on her father's homestead claim northwest of Elkhart, Kansas, close to the Cimarron River in Morton County. In 1935, the family moved north to the current family home southeast of Walsh in Baca County where she grew up attending Konantz Grade School and Walsh High School, graduating in 1948.
Edna Mae married Charles Paul Herron of Manter, Kansas, on July 17, 1948. They made their home northwest Morton County, Kansas, where they farmed and raised their sons, Maynard and Lyndell. Edna Mae loved doing fancy crochet and embroidery which were always used to decorate their home. While she enjoyed the fancy work, her passion for housekeeping and cleaning always took precedence. Dirty dishes left in the kitchen sink was an extremely rare occasion. She always maintained a small yard and flower garden as an oasis on the farm and enjoyed all the colorful birds who dropped in, even capturing a few of them in her embroidery pieces. Edna was a member of the Walsh First Baptist Church and was an active member until her health became an impairment. She was a resident of the Pioneer Manor in Hugoton, Kansas for more than 5 years.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents, Rinaldo (Epp) and Margaret Webster, her husband Charles in 1992, two sisters Floreine Gibson (Junior) and Vina Jewell Burhenn (Marvin), a baby brother Norman and a daughter-in-law Dana (Lyndell) Herron.
She is survived by a brother, Richard Webster of Walsh, and sons, Lyndell of Manter, Kansas and Maynard (Becky) of Hesston, Kansas. Grandchildren, Cordell Herron of Manter, Kansas, Nathan (Greta) Herron and sons Oliver and Simon of Shawnee, Kansas, Justin (Rachel) Herron and sons Elliott and Noah of Overland Park, Kansas and Laura Herron and husband Dave Rombeck of Shawnee, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, the family recommends memorial donations to the First Baptist Church in Walsh or to Stanton County High School FFA Scholarship, all in care of Dykes Funeral Services of Walsh.
