Floyd Burnett Hume, 84, of Walsh, Colorado, passed away Monday, February 17, 2014.
He was born at home in Morton County, Kansas, on August 28, 1929, to Harold and Edith (Hale) Hume. In the 1930s, Floyd and his family moved to the mountains of Colorado to find work. After living there for a while, they came back to Walsh where Floyd would live the rest of his life. He often would recall the story of them coming back to Walsh on the back of a truck with their dog.
He graduated from Walsh High School and was in the Marines for two years. Once he got back to Walsh, he started farming and ranching, which he would continue to do for the remainder of his life. His true love, however, was his cattle, horses and always his dogs.
Floyd is survived by his wife, Hazel Hume; children, Dudley Hume and Shalah (Terry) Howard; step-children, Mike (Marla) Hume, Leslie (Jens) Stephen, Sharon (Jeff) Kreie , and Jackie (Jack) Hogue; brother, Lloyd (Rosalie) Hume; sister, Phyllis Smith; along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his father, Harold Hume; his mother, Edith Hume; his brother Jack Hume and his sisters, Mary Jo (Laramie) Burson and Ganell Hume.
