Francisco "Kiko" Medina was born in Hermanas Coahuila Mexico to Ancelmo and Hermina Medina on December 3, 1930. He was born the second of 10 siblings. As a young man, he helped his father raise goats to produce goat milk at their family business. Later in life he traveled to the United States at the age of nineteen. He lived in the Granada and Bristol area until he met Josephina (Josie) Garcia. He and Josie were married in 1962.  He settled down roots with Josie outside of Walsh, Co and raised the children until they moved to Vilas in 1968. From their union they had eight children: Joe, Minnie, Diana, Cornea, Emma, Frank Jr., Mike, and Toby. Frank as many knew him, worked as a farmer for Bill Williams for 30 plus years. He thoroughly enjoyed his work and often would talk about the agriculture of the area with others. In 1978 he gained his U.S. citizenship. This was a very proud moment for Frank and his family. Yet, he never forgot his home and made annual trips with his family to Mexico. Frank passed away in Vilas, CO surrounded by his children on August 29, 2018. He will be remembered for his dedication and love to his both his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Josie of forty-two years, daughters Cornea and Diana, and grandson William. He leaves behind his sons: Joe, Frank, Mike and Toby and his daughter's, Minnie and Emma. He will also be missed by his twenty-one grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews.
