Hal Eugene (Butch) Wade, 66, passed away January 14, 2018 in Springfield. Butch was born January 8,
1952 to Hallie and Margaret (Gibson) Wade in Lamar, CO. He joined Hallie's children Roy, Leon, Sharon
and Linda. The family was completed with the addition of Kenny and Ralph. Butch attended Springfield
Schools until the 11th grade. He later accepted a challenge by the high school principal to earn a GED
and trade it in for a diploma.
Hallie owned a custom harvesting business and Butch worked his summers on a combine throughout his
childhood and into adulthood. Butch learned hard work and a strong work ethic from his father. He
was proud of these traits and instilled these traits in his children. Butch called Springfield home and was
never comfortable living or visiting elsewhere.
Butch married Carey Hendricks on July 10, 1971. To this union were born Cecil Anthony, Shelly Renee
and Shana Kay.
.
Butch was an active and proud member of the Jaycee's and worked diligently to restore the chapter
with Cecil in the late 90's. He was a favorite member throughout his years and will be fondly
remembered as Santa Claus during the Christmas in July fundraiser. Butch was dedicated employee. He
worked as an apprentice electrician for Ernie Locke for many years. This job brought our family
numerous funny stories that included a lot of pranks and some work! Ernie and Zelda Locke and Mutt
and Nancy Locke became lifelong friends and were considered family by Butch. He later worked for
Woolley Farms and then became owner/operator of Triangle Freight. Butch worked to build this
business and will always be remembered by his customers as dependable, loyal, accommodating and
providing quality work. When Triangle Freight closed its doors, Butch worked for the City of Springfield
in the Electrical Department until his disability.
Butch never knew a stranger and always had an open door and an empty chair for anyone. He was
always the first to help family, friends, and even strangers. He was often the person family and friends
went to for help. Butch loved to tell stories. Many hours were spent listening to his stories-his family
could hear the same stories over and over. He had a great sense of humor and a contagious laugh.
These are the things he will be most remembered and missed for.
