Obituary

Harry Miller passed away March 9, 2014, at Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colorado. Harry was born October 14, 1941, in Robstown, Texas, to Harry and Opal Miller. He was the first of eight children: George, Jean, David, Jerry Don, Linda, Kenneth and Ronald Dean followed. They came from a very meager way of life. They relocated several times before settling in Stillwell, Oklahoma.

At a young age Harry lost his father and moved in with a good friend, Blue and his family. Harry learned to speak Cherokee while living with the Hothouse family. For several years Blue and Harry would travel to this area for broomcorn harvest in the autumn. After harvest they would return to Oklahoma.

Harry met and dated Patsy Forgey. They were married on April 7, 1963. To this union was born three daughters; Sharon, Sandy and Pam. They later divorced in 1974. Harry and Naomi Gollihar were married March 30, 1977. Harry gained three stepsons; Bobby, Perry Don and Henry. Naomi passed away in March of 1998. For the past decade Harry and his close friend and companion, Carolyn Spell, have lived together in Springfield where he was employed by the City of Springfield.

Harry worked many jobs throughout his life. He cut fence posts and railroad ties, was a police officer, volunteer firefighter, had various agriculture related jobs, and was a welder. Harry was a very hard working man with not much idle time, until it was "Miller Time". This was his favorite time of day when he could spend time with friends and family.

Harry is preceded in death by his parents, five siblings, stepson Henry, wife Naomi, son-in-law Carl and daughter Sharon.

Harry is survived by his sister Lenna Jean (David) Rowe of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, his brother David Miller of Walsh, daughters Sandy Adams of Syracuse, Kansas and Pam (Lance) James of Walsh, son-in-law Mike Schmidt of Syracuse, stepsons Bobby Gollihar of Pueblo, Colorado and Perry Gollihar of Battle Mountain, Utah, Carolyn Spell of Springfield and her family, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
