IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jack Lewis
Walker
October 12, 1955 – December 6, 2023
Born on October 12th, 1955, to Mildred and Daryl Walker, Jack dedicated his life to making a lasting impact on those around him. A devoted husband, loving father, and cherished member of the Walsh community, Jack's legacy is one of compassion, service, and unwavering dedication.
A force to be reconned with both on the basketball court and the football field, Jack was a part of multiple state championship teams with the Walsh Eagles. Additionally, he was awarded Most Valuable Freshman on the football team at Panhandle State University where he was dubbed, "The Towering Inferno".
In his career, Jack initially followed in his father's footsteps, contributing significantly to the success of the Walker Insurance Agency with expansion into a Springfield office. Later, he discovered his true calling in the farming and trucking industry, where his hard work and passion shone brightly. Jack's vision for his farm was evident, starting with a small plot of land that was persistently grown and developed into the sprawling oasis that it is today.
Jack's commitment extended beyond his personal and professional life, as he served with distinction on the Walsh School Board, the Walsh Health Care Board, and the Board of the People's Credit Union.
A man of simple needs, Jack found true happiness in his family, which he treasured above all else. His marriage to the love of his life, Ruth, in March of 1981, marked the beginning of a beautiful journey. Together, they raised their sons, Seth and Ely, instilling in them the values that would mold them into the men they are today.
Jack's faith in Jesus was an integral part of his life, and he worshipped alongside Ruth at Walsh Wesleyan Church. His genuine and generous spirit touched the lives of many, as he selflessly assisted those in need. Jack's impact on the Walker family and the Walsh community is immeasurable, and his absence will be deeply felt.
Jack is survived by his mother Mildred Walker, his beloved wife Ruth Ann, his son Seth and wife Charity, his son Ely and wife Kelsey, and their cherished grandchildren, Will, Grayson, Grant, and Millie. He is also survived by his six siblings, Barbara Hyink and husband Bruce, Penny Lucas, Sandra Haman and John Vavra, Hal Walker and wife Carol, Wade Walker and wife Jill, and Tracy McIver and husband Brad, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. He is also survived by the Carrillo, Pettinger & Perez families, all of whom Jack and Ruth cherish deeply.
Jack would be honored to know we are all continuing in his love of storytelling. Please keep telling the stories of his life and how he influenced so many others.
We will miss his wonderful smile, his sense of humor and those big bearhugs we all loved.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Jack's honor to the Baca County Salvation Army Unit. Box 103. Springfield, CO 81073
