Obituary

Jim Irvin Burhenn, 78, of Stonington CO, passed away, Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at his home surrounded by family.

Jim was born July 16, 1941 to Clinton and Alline (Hanes) Burhenn. He graduated from Walsh High School in 1959 and enlisted in the Marines in 1961. Jim served in the Marines until 1965 where he earned the nickname Jimmy Jet due to his enthusiasm of being a F-8 fighter pilot. After the military, Jim moved back to the family farm in Stonington CO and married Jutta Heike Wuestendoerfer on February 26, 1969. Jim and Jutta remained at the farm, raising their family, until his passing.

Jim is survived by his wife Jutta of 51 years, daughters Jennifer (Jason) Jones, Judy Galdean, Janet Burhenn, and son John Burhenn, sister Donna (Dennis) Nealey, brother Ted (Mary) Burhenn and many loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family. Jim was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend to everyone.He was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Alline, and his daughter Julie.

A special thank you to the people at Southeast Colorado Home Health and Hospice in Springfield, CO for their loving care and support during his final days. Also, the family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude towards people of Baca County during this difficult time.
