John Henry Davison
May 30, 1962 - August 4, 2015
John Henry Davison was born in Elkhart, KS on May 30, 1962, to Carl and Carolyn Davison. John passed away at the age of 53 on August 4, 2015 at Southeast Colorado Hospital in Springfield, CO.
John grew up in Walsh attending Walsh Public Schools from Kindergarten through 12th grade. He graduated High School in 1980, making many lifelong friendships during this time.
In 1983, John married Mary Lawhead of Johnson City, KS. They lived on the Davison family homestead at Bartlett, CO for several years while John learned the hay business from his father-in-law, Charlie Lawhead. John was consumed by his passion for this business and Mary worked by his side as they pursued this dream together. After moving to Johnson City, KS, John and Mary welcomed their firstborn daughter Rochelle on March 9, 1990. Their second child Shelby Lynne was born on August 14, 1992. John and Mary eventually took over the Lawhead Hay Business.
John and Mary divorced after 23 years of marriage in 2006. John was very proud of both of his daughters who are both now happily married. He was overjoyed to welcome his granddaughter Jaklyn, who celebrated her first birthday on Saturday, August 1, an occasion that John was able to enjoy with her.
In 2012, John faced numerous health challenges. Following a lengthy stay at Swedish Medical Center in Denver, he rejoined family and friends in Walsh. John was sincerely touched by the outpouring of love and support from family and friends, including his companion Lisa Spell of Walsh. The last three years he enjoyed working once again in farming with Cliff Gourley and most recently with Gary McCall.
John was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Carolyn Davison, his uncle Merle and Aunt Barbara, father-in-law Charlie Lawhead and his cousin Mark Bradley Davison.
He leaves behind daughters Rochelle and husband Jerod Cooper of Manter, KS and Shelby Lynne and husband Sterling Dunivan of Walsh. Sister, Carla and husband Dirk Reynolds of Claremore, OK. Companion Lisa Spell of Walsh, ex-wife Mary Lawhead Davison of Johnson City, KS, granddaughter Jaklyn Cooper, Uncle John and Aunt Margaret Davison of Parker, CO, Uncle Alva and Aunt Janie Davison of Aurora, CO, Aunt Phyllis Davison, of Walsh, CO, several nephews, nieces, and cousins, and numerous other relatives and friends.
