Per Karen's request cremation will take place and her memorial service will be a private event.

Karen was born in Vallejo, CA on September 3, 1965 to Charles Stapel and Sue Hansen and passed away on August 23, 2018 at age 52.

Karen graduated from Rock Springs High School and went on to attend Meridian Technology Center where she received her certification for radiology technician.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Sue Hansen, her father, Charles Stapel, her brothers, Cory Stapel and Luke Stapel.

She is survived by her daughter, Tiffany (David) Kueny, her son, DJ (David) Grissom, her God given mother and father, Joyce and Al "Gino" McCorkle, her brother, Richard (Tammy) Whisennand, her sister, Gwen Christopher, and brother, Roger Sperry. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ryan Rico, Trevor Rico and Hayden Rico, 2 aunts, 2 uncles, many cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to Southeast Colorado Hospital Ambulance Service or in care of Dykes Funeral Services.
