Obituary

Laramie Lane Burson was born April 29, 1932 in Walsh, Colorado and departed this world January 16, 2011 at the age of 78. Laramie was the oldest of two sons born to Earl Roy and Clover Juanita (Packard) Burson. Laramie and his brother Zolin grew up on a farm 12 miles southwest of Walsh. He had many great memories of spending time with the Packard and Burson families.
He attended school at the Boston and Vilas schools. He attended his junior year of high school at St. John Military School in Salina Kansas and returned to graduate in Walsh in 1950. He attended one year of college at Modesto, California and one year at Texas A & M before he returned to join his father on the farm.

Laramie and Mary Jo Hume were married August 13, 1952 in Raton, New Mexico and lived in the Walsh area for the remainder of their lives. To this marriage 6 children were born. Larry Lane was born March 6, 1953, Gary Lynn then followed February 13, 1956 with Phillip Randall born November 8 1957, Timothy Floyd September 18, 1958, Judith Ann October 9, 1959 and last but not least, the baby of the family, Linda Sue was born November 20, 1961.

Laramie lived and worked his entire life in Baca County engaged in farming and ranching. He was instrumental in helping start and supporting the Southeast Colorado Agra Research Center near Walsh, and was a long time member of the Colorado Wheat Administrative Committee. Some of the best times were on the "Big Canyon" Grazing Association north east of Trinidad where Laramie spent a great deal of his time participating in his favorite pastime-rock collecting and looking for other treasures.

Laramie was one of those people that "never knew a stranger." He loved to visit people and had a contagious smile, a welcoming hand shake and always greeted everyone with that familiar "What's the deal" or "How's it going". Many hours were spent with his many friends solving local & world problems around the tables of the Get & Go Cafe, Ben's Cafe and Richards.

Laramie spent the last few years in the Morton County Care Center and then the last few months in the Stanton County Long Term Care Center where he continued to touch his many caregivers with his kind heart, warm smile and extending his hand to all that entered his life. While there he loved to play dominoes, movie time and spending time with Kayci looking through his picture albums.

Laramie was preceded in death by his parents Earl & Clover Burson. His wife Mary Jo (Hume) Burson, two sons Larry Lane & Phillip Randall Burson.

He is survived by his 4 children Gary (Barbara) of Edmond, OK; Tim (Gayla) Powersite, MO; Judy (Larry) Trahern Walsh, CO; Susie (Darrell) Mackey Springfield, CO; 10 grandchildren; Jeff Trahern, Kayci Trahern, Kyle Trahern, Chase Trahern; Aaron Burson, Holly Burson, Keely (D.J.) Hair; Brandon (Kodie) Mackey, Samantha (Eddie) Parks and Chris Mackey. 8 great grandchildren; Hayli, Kurt, Jaxton, London, Haley, Ali, Kylie, Amari.
