Obituary

Lester Carl Gentzler, age 84, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2026, in Springfield, Colorado. He was born on October 21, 1941, in Liberal, Kansas, to the late Simon Peter and Jessie L. Gentzler. First and foremost, Lester was a deeply devoted believer in Jesus Christ. His faith guided his daily life, his interactions with his community, and the love he showered upon his family. For many years, Lester was a familiar and trusted face in town as the owner and operator of LesGo Parts in Springfield, where he took great pride in serving his neighbors and friends. He is survived by his faithful wife of 64 years, Carolyn Gentzler; his loving children, daughter Wendy Strickland and her husband Steve, and son Dane Gentzler and his wife Triva; and his nephew Jeff Self and his wife Melonie, whom he cherished like another son. Lester was the proud grandfather of Sean Strickland and wife Holly, Riley Strickland, Jenifer Spicer and husband Justin, Kristen Gentzler-Tapia and husband Enrique, and Ryan Gentzler. He was also blessed with four great-grandchildren: Graham Strickland, alongside Heidi, Calum, and Declan Spicer. He further leaves behind numerous beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. Lester was preceded in death by his parents, Simon Peter and Jessie L. Gentzler; his older brothers, Wilmont "Red" Gentzler, Richard F. "Dick" Gentzler, and Gerald Dean Gentzler; and his older sister, Corinda "Cindy" Quick. A graveside service and inurnment will be held at 10:00 am on October 21, 2026, at the Springfield Cemetery in Springfield, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution in Lester's honor to Southeast Colorado Hospital District, 373 E. 10th Avenue, Springfield, Colorado 81073.
