Obituary

Lillian Iona Dillinger, lifelong resident of Baca County, passed into history and eternity on March 17, 2011, after a two month series of illnesses. She was 91.

She was preceded in death by her husband Arden; two stillborn daughters, Shirley Ann and Patty Lynn; son Billy, son Jim and daughter Janie. Also preceding her were brothers Clifford and Gene "Red" Wellman, and sister Ruth Wellman Stultz.

She is survived by one sister, Lois Wellman Gruber of Walsh; grandchildren; Kelly Travis of Hammon, Oklahoma, Sam Travis of Elk City, Oklahoma, Spencer Travis of Fort Worth, Texas, and Carrie Colvert of Alva, Oklahoma; seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Lillian was the anchor of her large family, a testament to human strength in the face of seemingly insurmountable adversity, pain and loss.

Being in her presence was a comfort to any and all who shared their burdens with her. She understood your pain.

Lillian was born July 12, 1919, to Merle and Carrie Doke Wellman. She and her brothers and sisters were all born and raised on the family farm in Baca County.

She was married in 1938 to Arden Dillinger. They soon began farming and raising their children. She and Arden retired and turned their farming operation over to Jim in 1976. They enjoyed their many travels, family and friends.

Her descendants, friends and family will miss her sorely.

Memorials may be made to the Walsh Ambulance Service.
