LouAnn Konkel (Baumberger) passed away Friday, August 21, 2015, at Southeast Colorado Hospital in Springfield, Colorado, after an extended illness.
LouAnn was born in Hobart, Oklahoma, on July 22, 1933, to her parents, Doyle and Hazel
Baumberger. She was an only child. Her family moved to Springfield, Colorado in 1948, where she ended up meeting and marrying Ivan Leroy Konkel. Two sons were born, Douglas and David. She spent the majority of her life as a caring mother and housewife.
LouAnn enjoyed spending time with her husband and family. She was a proud mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. LouAnn and Leroy and the boys spent many enjoyable times at Two Buttes Reservoir fishing and floating on the Lazy Lucy; she especially enjoyed the occasional "cousin parties" at the lake with extended relatives from Oklahoma and Colorado. Throughout her years one of her favorite pastimes was shopping for antiques and collectibles, especially with her mom and Fern Wilson. She was accomplished in the art of crochet. She often shared her handmade items with family members and friends. She cherished her weekly gal pal get togethers with special friends at the café drinking coffee and reminiscing. She enjoyed taking care of her "bottle babies", the many nursing calves she took care of over the years. She looked forward to the brandings where she could spend time cooking and watching her children and grandchildren work cattle. She was an avid Denver Broncos fan. She was a member of the Methodist Church.
LouAnn is survived by her son David Konkel of Springfield, Colorado, and granddaughter Erin Konkel of Penrose, Colorado; and grandchildren Allison (Konkel) Babcock of Bozeman, Montana, Brent Konkel of Fort Collins, Colorado, Blaine Konkel of Fort Collins, Colorado and Dustin Konkel; and two great- grandchildren, Graeme Babcock and Remmi Jo Konkel. She is preceded in death by her husband Leroy Konkel and son Douglas Konkel.
