Marjorie Lee Rose, 87, of Canon City, died at home on December 30, 2016, after a lengthy illness. She was born November 17, 1929 to Frank and Marjorie Mercer in Columbus. Kansas.
After graduating high school she attended and graduated nursing school in Parsons, Kansas. Marjorie worked as a Registered Nurse for over 50 years and retired at the age of 76.
Marjorie had one child from a previous marriage, Dwight Cooper, who preceded her in death.
Marjorie enjoyed square dancing and attended them often. She met Harold Rose at one of these square dances and they later married. After they were married in 1994 she moved to Walsh, Colorado and lived most of their married life there. She continued to work as a nurse in the nursing home at the Southeast Colorado Hospital. They moved to Canon City approximately 2 years ago to be closer to family. Marjorie enjoyed watching her many Western shows, college football. basketball and many other sports on TV. She had a very contagious laugh and found a friend everywhere she went.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Marjorie Mercer, brother Bill Mercer and son Dwight Cooper.
Marjorie is survived by her husband Harold Rose of 22 years, sister Betty Reed (Don) of Fullerton, CA, grandson Josh Cooper of Kansas City, MO, nieces Patricia, Judy, Nancy, Janice and Debbie. She is also survived by three stepchildren, 9 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
