Mitcheal Bruce Shackelford, age 50, of rural Baca County, Colorado, died July 14, 2010, following a motor vehicle accident. Born September 30, 1959, in Elkhart, Kansas, he was one of four children born to the late W.L. and Ruth (Ohnick) Shackelford.

Bruce grew up and attended school through 11th grade in Elkhart, Kansas. He worked in the oilfield, as a truck driver and in the electrical field but most enjoyed doing mechanic work and farming. He moved to Baca County, Colorado, in 1997.

Bruce loved spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren and friends. He was an avid arrowhead hunter, enjoyed gardening and was always willing to drop everything to go fishing or have a cookout. Bruce loved to tell his "tall tales" and was willing to share them with whoever would listen.

Survivors include one son, Mitcheal Shackelford and wife Kristina, treasured grandchildren, Aubrey and Calvin Shackelford all of Elkhart, Kansas; one brother, Wayman Earl Shackelford and wife Jana of Topeka, Kansas; two sisters, Bonnie Buxton and husband Leroy of Liberal, Kansas, and Tina Weatherman and husband Tom of Elkhart, Kansas. Along with countless other family who were blessed to have known him.
