Mona Charlene Rader Myers passed away November 11, 2023, at Walsh Healthcare Center at the age of 86.
Mona was born on July 27, 1937, in Dodge City, Kansas to Robert and Fern Rader. She was the second born of 5 children.
In her early childhood the family moved to Colorado where they settled in Walsh. Mona attended Walsh High School where she met and married Wade Myers in December of 1953. They started their family and established their home in Walsh, Colorado. To this union 4 children were born: Marla, Steve, Charla and Lisa.
After her children were born, Mona went back to school attending college in Goodwell, Oklahoma. She said that this was one of her greatest accomplishments. She drove 180 miles round-trip for 3 years and was still able to be home when her kids got off the bus from school. Mona spent the next 37 years teaching 3rd grade at Springfield Elementary. She loved and was loved by all her students. She made such an impact on their lives and her love for teaching will always be remembered.
Mona loved spending time visiting with her friends, family and loved her role as a grandmother to her 10 grandchildren. Mona loved reading, playing Scrabble with her friends and watching Judge Judy.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Wade Myers; her parents, Robert and Fern Rader; and sister, Marlene Ownsby.
She is survived by her children, Marla and Mike Hume, Steve and Karen Myers, Charla and Justin Swift and Lisa and Dave Mason; grandchildren, Danny Wright, Chris and Shanelle Wright, Amanda Wright, Jared and Abby Myers, Cal and Jael Myers, Jeff and PJ Chenoweth, Clay and Katrina Chenoweth, Chance and Sally Chenoweth, Tiffany Findley, Tyler and Jordan Findley and 18 great grandchildren. Also surviving are her 3 remaining siblings: Mike Rader, Bruce and Gerry Rader and Marilyn and Don Albert as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
During her years of teaching Mona kept all the notes, letters and drawings given to her by her students. If any former student would like to have what they gave to Mrs. Myers, please contact a family member.
