Obituary

Norma Robbins Picha (Pee-ka) was born on May 8, 1940 to Lewis Ahi Robbins and Bessie Fay Greathouse Robbins. She was the second child of five children in the family.

Norma attended Walsh Methodist Church as a youth and was a member of the Lamar Methodist Church. Norma was known to say she "just wanted to believe the same way her dad believed".

Norma attended Stonington school during her grade school years. After moving to Walsh in her early teens, she continued her education and graduated from Walsh High School. Her classmates remained close friends after high school and have been a great support system for her.

Norma was married to Terry Picha. To this union one daughter, Lisa Picha, was born. Norma was a cosmetologist, a dental hygienist and completed her nurses training.

Norma had many interests in life, such as sports, crocheting, playing cards and marbles, making candles and floral arrangements, shopping, growing roses and tomatoes, and bird watching. She watched Christian TV and had favorite evangelists which encouraged her in her Christian walk.

Norma "fought the good fight" showing courage, persistence and faith during her 13 year battle with leukemia. Her determination to live and willingness to support medical research is a great legacy. Courage compelled her to be "the test pilot" so that others could be given a future.

Norma was preceded in death by her father, Lewis Ahi Robbins, one older sister, Millicent Marie Heath, and one infant brother, Donald Wayne Robbins.

Those who will continue to honor Norma's life include one daughter, Lisa Picha of Indianapolis, Indiana; her mother, Bessie Fay Robbins of Walsh, one brother Dr. Richard Robbins (Cheri) of Stonington, one sister, Roberta Alcorn (Gary) of Parker, Colorado as well as many nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
