Aug 8, 1946 — Oct 18, 2026
In Loving Memory of Patricia Ann Tate August 8, 1946 – October 18, 2026
Patrician Ann “Pat” Tate was a woman of elegance, warmth and faith. Known for her bright smile, wonderful laugh, and impeccable attention to her appearance, Pat had a distinctive presence that those who knew and loved her will always remember. She took pride in doing things the right way and brought her own special personality to the people and places that shaped her life.
Pat was born to Wanda Jeane Beeny and Floyd Leroy “Buss” Greathouse. She was raised on a farm in Walsh, Colorado, where her early years helped shape the caring and hardworking woman she would become. Both of her parents preceded her in death. She is survived by her younger brother, Jim Greathouse.
Pat married Bill Tate in 1964. They shared many years together until his untimely passing in 1996. In 2004, Pat married Gene Sears, becoming another important chapter in her life. Gene’s children are Sheila Manion, Brian Sears, Joseph Sears, Mathew Sears, and Jason Sears. Pat was a devoted mother to her sons, Kelly Tate and Rick Tate, and a loving grandmother to Ryanne Tate Castro, who is married to Juan Castro, and Levi Tate, who is married to Meghan Swinehart Tate. She took great pride in her grandchildren and cherished being part of their lives and celebrating their milestones. Kelly’s wife, Arika, the mother of Pat’s grandchildren, was an important part of the family.
Faith was an important part of Pat’s life. Raised in the Baptist tradition, she later converted to Catholicism during her marriage to Gene. She became an active and devoted member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Wichita, Kansas. Pat was deeply spiritual and looked forward to attending church services and spending time with her fellow parishioners. Her faith was a source of comfort, fellowship, and meaning throughout her life.
Pat worked for more than 40 years at Dillions Grocery Inc. as a meat wrapper, demonstrating strong work ethic and dedication throughout her career. She also enjoyed staying active, particularly playing golf. She took pride in her accomplishments on the golf course, including achieving a hole-in-one and winning multiple longest-drive contests. Above all, Pat cherished her family. She enjoyed being involved in her grandchildren’s activities and sharing the important moments of their lives. Being present for the people she loved brought meaning and joy to her life.
Pat was always a picture of elegance, taking pride in her appearance and in the way she presented herself. She was particular about the details and a rule follower who believed in doing things the right way. Beyond her polished appearance was a woman with a bright, beautiful smile and a wonderful laugh. These qualities were unmistakably Pat. Her smile could brighten a room, and her laughter was a memorable part of the warmth and personality she brought to those around her. She will be remembered not only for the life she lived, but for the special way she made an impression on the people who knew and loved her.
Pat’s family in Kansas will be having a private memorial service. Pat will ultimately be laid to rest in Walsh, Colorado, beside her first husband, Bill, returning to the place where her story began.
Pat’s life was marked by her love for family, her devotion to her faith, and the unmistakable personality that made her so special. She will be remembered for her elegance, her bright smile, her wonderful laugh, and the love she shared with those closest to her. As she returns to Walsh, Colorado to rest beside Bill, the memories she leaves behind will remain in the hearts of her family and friends. Though she will be deeply missed, the love she gave, and the moments shared with her will continue to bring comfort and joy. May she rest in peace.
