Pauline "Pablita" Pena was born in Ojito, New Mexico to Jose and Rufina Gonzales on August 13, 1946. She was the firstborn of 18 siblings and was a mother to 6 children; Marie, Daniel, Ralph, Billy, Darlene and Felix. At a young age Pauline learned how to be a homemaker while caring for her younger siblings as well as gaining a hard work ethic from her daddy.
She worked hard to provide for her children, working odd jobs and took pride in working for Virginia Bitner and the Bishop's family café. She also worked in the Walsh, Colorado hospital for years as a dietician. In the spring of 1986, she moved to Lamar, Colorado. She began working at Lamar Community College as a custodian. She worked at the college from October of 1991 and retired in March of 2002. While employed at LCC she made many friends and earned Employee of the Year in 1998. She was awarded a trip to the Governor's Mansion in Denver, Colorado and was honored to attend.
She will be remembered for being a loving mom, sister, Grandma, auntie, Lela and friend. She had a big heart and always took care of those she loved.
She is preceded in death by Jose Gonzales, Otimia Gonzales, Rufina Gonzales, Crespin Pena, Ralph Sena, baby Gene Gonzales, Joseph Gonzales and Virginia Gonzales.
She leaves behind her children; Marie Sena, Daniel Sena, Billy Sena, Darlene and Hugo Mancia and Felix and Diana Dias. She will also be missed by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, along with numerous family and friends.
