Obituary

Preston Glen Hutches, age 61, of Walsh, CO passed away on Jan 14th, 2019 at 3:15 am at
Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs following a brief illness.

Pret's adventure began on March 19, 1957 when he blessed Glen and Idrys Hutches with their
third child. Mom and Dad made it home with him from Lamar just before the blizzard of '57. Of
course, the biggest blessing came about seven years later when Robyn was born, but we'll save
that for another time. Tarzan Preston Pigweed Hutch was the name he used on the first day of
school when he started 2nd grade and this title was affectionately used by his family throughout
his life. He survived drinking skunky beer forced on him by Gale and Vic when he was only five,
getting knocked clear out of his boots, (ask Vic and Randy about that one), getting kicked in the
forehead by a Shetland pony and getting caught smoking when he was 16. The look on his face
was priceless when he saw Mom, Dad, Gale, Tammy and Robyn staring at him from the street
corner. I'm sure his crotch was smoking when the cigarette dropped from his mouth when he
saw us staring straight at him.

He graduated from Vilas High School in 1975. He loved working on all kinds of vehicles and
could swap out or rebuild an engine on just about anything. He was a huge help to Dad during
harvest and was always happiest when doing something farm related. He spent a few years
driving a truck for John Deere and knew all the words to "Driving My Life Away" and "Take This
Job and Shove It".
Pret's most precious gift arrived on September 21, 1976 when his son Jeff was born. Although
they weren't able to establish a relationship until Jeff was older, the two developed a bond
unlike any other. Jeff would ask Pret for advice anytime he needed help fixing his equipment.
The two of them would often talk three or four times a day. Pret would cut his calls short with
his sisters just so he could take Jeff's call. Jeff was Pret's world and we are so happy that they
found each other. In our eyes, Jeff was raised a Chenoweth, but he'll always be a Hutches to
us. We all love him dearly.

In 1982 Pret met his soulmate and fell head over heels in love. On April 12, 1982, Pret married
Linda Walters and quickly became an instant father to Diane, Bruce and Rhona. He loved them
like they were his own. Linda made him so happy and completed his life.
In 1984 Pret and Linda moved Southeast of Walsh to farm Uncle Hammie's land. Pret loved
playing in the dirt and felt at home living in the middle of nowhere. He took over the farm after
Uncle Hammie's passing in 2000. Things didn't always go his way, sometimes they just plain
sucked, but he stuck with it, thinking next year would be his year. His only regret was knowing
how hard the financial burden was on Linda. Together, they got through it as best they could.

Pret is preceded in death by his Dad, Glen Eldon Hutches, Grandparents, William and Pearl
Hamilton and Vess and Iris Hutches. He leaves behind his wife, Linda and son Jeff ,(PJ)
Chenoweth, Linda's children, Diane (Randy) Painter, Bruce (Kelli) Walters, Rhona Walters and
Shad Heglin. His mom, Idrys Hutches, sister Gale (Darrell) Henderson, brother Vic (Molly)
Hutches, sister Tammy (Craig) Doyle and sister Robyn (Heath) Perdue. His grandchildren, Lisa
(Frankie) Laredo, Jason Painter, Rylan (Robin) Walters, Kiley (Jeremy) Hanson, Bailey (Logan)
Gear, Garrett Walters, Gage, Kimber and Slade Chenoweth. Six great grandchildren, Sage
Walters, Hadley Hanson, Orrin and Brody Gear, and Mason and Ariya Laredo along with
numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
