Regina Kay Cheek was born April 30, 1954, and departed this life on the evening of September 5, 2013, surrounded by members of her family at BSA Hospice in Amarillo, Texas after a short, unexpected illness.

The third child of Richard and Reva Whaley, Regina lived the first year of her life on a farm east of Campo, Colorado, with her parents, grandparents, a brother and a sister. Regina was a beautiful child, having brown eyes and blonde hair, and was doted on as the "baby" of the family.

Due to the poor economics of farming, the family moved away from the farm into the Walsh community, then to Keyes, Oklahoma, then Amarillo, Texas, and back to Walsh. Regina completed high school there and graduated in 1972. After graduation, Regina completed a certified nurse aide course at St. Anthony Hospital in Amarillo, and spent most of her life taking care of others. During the last years of her life she enjoyed the solitude of living on a farm, taking care of chickens, hunting arrowheads and fishing in her spare time, while sharing the love and care of the Burns Family at Keyes, Oklahoma.

Regina was preceded in death by her daughter, Jill Cheek and her father, Richard Whaley. She is survived by her mother, Reva Whaley; brother, Richard (Kay) Whaley; sister, Joyce (Eugene) McCorkle and three daughters, Jeanine (James) Costner, Michelle Cheek and Billie (Ryan) Hartley. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
