Richard Wesley Medley was born on July 1, 1930 on the family farm near Stonington, Colorado, to Henry Sylvester Medley and Lillie Mae Hughes Medley. His siblings were Robert Bob, Alice Mildred, Vesta May, Hazel Josephine, Ruby Fay, Mary Emma and Bertha Opal. They all preceded him in death.
Dick attended elementary school at District 21 (Beulah) and Konantz and in 1948 he graduated from Walsh High School.
February 6, 1952, he joined the military and was honorably discharged on November 7, 1953, after attaining the rank of sergeant. While serving his country Dick worked in the motor pool as a mechanic and was in the artillery.
Dick married Luedith Gifford on June 1, 1957. They became parents to Charla Fay, Rebecca Sue and Richard Wayne. Luedith passed away in 1974 after 16 years of marriage to Dick. He met and married Euvonne Millspaugh in 1978. Dick welcomed her children, Phyllis, Ken and Twila into his family. Euvonne and Dick were married for 41 years prior to her death on April 28, 2019.
During his working years Dick held a variety of jobs. He farmed; ran a service station, a restaurant and a garage in Walsh; worked in the skating rink and ran the projector at the movie theater in Springfield. His last job, which he held for 20 years, was in the Walmart warehouse in Bentonville, Arkansas.
In August of 2019 Dick moved back to his hometown of Walsh where he enjoyed the wide-open spaces. Due to his declining eyesight, in 2021, he moved back to Arkansas to live with his daughter Rebecca and her husband, Lloyd. One of his more enjoyable hobbies was his greenhouse where he grew a variety of flowers and even a banana tree!
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings and one grandchild, Leslie Howard.
He is survived by his children, Charla Medley, Becky (Lloyd) Hankins and Wayne (Cindy) Medley; step-children, Ken (Dottie) Millspaugh, Phyllis Millspaugh and Twila (Doug) Samples; 19 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and 2 great, great-grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Dick passed away June 14, 2023, at the VA Hospital in Fayetteville, Arkansas, at the age of 92.
