Rick E. Hutches passed away June 26, 2019 at Northwest Hospital in Amarillo, Texas, after a lengthy illness.  He was born September 18, 1951 in Lamar, Colorado. Rick grew up around Vilas, Colorado, attending all 12 years and graduating from Vilas High School.  In his younger years, he enjoyed playing baseball, being a 4-H member, and playing music with family and friends.   Rick started his dream job driving a semi, helping local farmers and ranchers for several years.  Later in life, he moved to Amarillo, Texas, following in his Uncle Charlie's footsteps by driving a semi for Walmart stores all over the country.  Rick continued in this position until 2010, when he retired for health reasons.  He made his home in Amarillo, Texas, where he resided with a special friend, Viviane Lollis, for 20 years.

Rick is preceded in death by his dad, Vess Hutches, one grandson Adin Hutches, maternal and paternal grandparents, several uncles, aunts and one nephew.  Rick is survived by his mother Margie Hutches of Vilas, son Jeremy (Megan) Hutches, grandson Bryce of Monument, Colorado, special friend Viviane Lollis of Amarillo, Texas, sister Linda (Marvin) Packard of Springfield, Colorado, brothers Randy (Sissie) Hutches of Vilas, Donnie Hutches of Vilas, and John (Rena) Hutches of Amarillo, Texas.  Numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, uncles, aunts, and his many, many friends also survive.  Rick is well known for his caring nature and was happiest when he was doing for others.

A memorial service will be held in Vilas at a later date.
