Marilyn (Porter) Cogburn and her twin brother, Milton, were born September 13, 1927 at Vilas, Colorado to Camet and Gladys Porter. She departed this life in the evening of April 2, 2013 at the Stanton County Hospital in Johnson, Kansas at the age of 85. She was preceded in death by her parents Camet and Gladys, an older brother, Harold Lloyd, her twin brother Milton, and a brother-in-law, Richard Pelley. She is survived by her husband, Ogle of the home, daughter Marsha and husband Jerry Moller of Amarillo, Texas, son Stephen & wife Debrah of Walsh, daughter Denise & husband Clarence Jones of Walsh, daughter Marla & husband Moe Houtz of Elkhart, Kansas; grandchildren Lance and wife Kristen Moller, Ryan Moller, Jud and wife Corrie Moller, Jennifer Cogburn, Samuel and wife Amanda Cogburn, Shawn Cogburn, Tyler and wife Carol Jones, Heather Stark, Monica Jones, Tai and husband Brandon Elder, and Skyler Houtz; great grandchildren Mackenzie, Riley, Jackson, Matney, and Noah Moller, Marley and Body Jones; sister Betty Pelley of Lamar, CO, sister-in-law Dorothy Porter, and numerous nieces, nephews, & relatives. Marilyn's family lived in Vilas during her early years and later moved to Springfield where she attended school. After graduating high school in 1945, Marilyn moved to Denver where she worked at several jobs including being a secretary at Continental Airlines, a dental assistant, and a sales clerk at Walgreens & Montgomery Wards. She later moved back to Springfield where she worked as a secretary for the law offices of Schmidt & Schmidt and the Baca County ASCS Office. On September 19, 1954 she married the love of her life, Ogle Cogburn and would have celebrated 59 years on their next anniversary. This union was blessed with four wonderful children. Marilyn's remaining years were devoted to her husband and children. She was a faithful wife, compassionate mother, devoted grandmother, and loving great grandmother, who always had something good to say about everyone. Marilyn was a devoted member of the Walsh Methodist Church throughout her entire life, and was always ready to help in anyway she could.
In the last few years of her life, Marilyn was deprived of her memory by Alzheimer's. She spent the last four months of her life at the Walsh Healthcare Center where she received excellent and gracious care. The family is very grateful to all those who cared for her during this difficult time. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
