She was born October 5, 1937 in Two Buttes, CO to Emery Barnon Ratliff and Anna Irene (Carr) Ratliff. Ruth grew up in the country and attended nearby schools in Walsh, CO.
She was united in marriage to Marvin Leroy Rhoads at Raton, New Mexico and to this union three children were born: Emery, Irene and Floyd. Floyd passed away at the age of 6 weeks on April 15, 1965. The family made their home in Pueblo, CO where Ruth worked as a waitress at the local bus depot that was managed by Marvin. She also worked as a cook in a nursing home in Colorado before moving her family to Wichita in 1974. Ruth continued her work in a local nursing home kitchen before becoming a dietician at the William Booth Memorial Hospital for unwed mothers in Wichita.
Ruth later married James Richard Lowery on September 5, 1979 in Wichita. Five more children became a part of Ruth's life as she was blessed with the addition of Richard, Mary, Marty, Bobby and Barb to her family. Ruth and James were later blessed with the birth of another son Kevin Ray Lowery in 1980.
They returned to Walsh, CO in 1988 to assist in the care of Ruth's Mother. James died on August 29, 1995. Ruth returned to Wichita in 2008.
Ruth was a member of the Baptist Faith.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers: Roy, Albert, Kenneth and Bill Ratliff and another son Richard Lowery.
Ruth is survived by her family: Irene Watermiller of Milton, KS; Emery Rhoads, Kevin Lowery; Mary Young and Bobby Lowery all of Wichita, KS; Marty Walker of Belle Plaine, KS; Barb Deringer of Arkansas City, KS; brothers: Kenny Ratliff of Wishram, WA; Earl Ratliff of Anthony, KS; Dale Ratliff of Joplin, MO and Terrill Ratliff of Liberal, KS; three sisters: Hazel Anderson and Barbara Ratliff both of Wichita, KS; Betty Rich of Los Animas, CO; 23 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017 from the Haysville Christian Church, Haysville, KS with Pastor Kurt Hensen officiating. Graveside Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017 in Walsh Cemetery, Walsh, CO with Terry Krayenhagen officiating. Local arrangements are by Dykes Memorial Chapel, Walsh, CO.
Memorials have been established to Prairie Sunset Home, Pretty Prairie, KS or the Alzheimer's Association.
