Shanna Danee Riddle Van De Wege, also known as Sunshine by her father and "Sally Gooden" by her grandpa Virgil, was born to Mark and Paula Riddle on June 4, 1980 in Walsh, CO. Shanna was 36 years young at the time of her death. Diederik Jonas VanDeWege, "DJ" ,was born to Craig and Shanna VanDeWege on September 5, 2016 in Fort Worth, TX. He was 3 months and 10 days old. Shanna and Diederik both lived in Ft. Worth, TX and left this world on December 15, 2016.
Shanna attended Walsh Public School s, graduating class 1998. She continued her education at Oklahoma Panhandle State University, Oklahoma State University and Redlands Community College culminating in a nursing degree in 2006.
Shanna enjoyed many activities during her youth. She participated in Walsh 4-H Busy Bee, junior and high school sports, track, volleyball, basketball and cheerleading. In 1999 she participated in the Miss Baca County Pageant where she was crowned 1st attendant.
In 2007 Shanna moved to Longmont, Colorado and where she worked at St. Joseph Hospital as a Registered Nurse. She made many friends at both her work and church.
While there, Shanna married her best friend Craig on May 18, 2014 in Boulder, Colorado at Restoration Messianic Fellowship where they both attended. Shanna and Craig lived in Ft Lupton, until May 2016 when Craig received a job promotion which had them relocated to Ft. Worth, Texas. While they patiently waited for their new addition, Shanna worked at Texas Health Huguley Hospital where she was loved and adored. Shanna and Craig were thrilled to be expecting their first child and were ecstatic of the pending birth. On September 5, 2016 they welcomed Diederik Jonas VanDeWege, DJ for short into their lives. DJ was the apple of his parents and grandparents, eyes. They enjoyed discovering Fort Worth as a new family.
They are survived by husband and father Craig, Shanna's family- parents Mark and Paula Riddle, brother Mitchell Riddle, grandmother Shirley Riddle, uncles and aunts Wayne and Ellen Garner, Jerry Wallace, Myrna and Norm Oney, Glen and Rhonda Johnson, Stan Rodgers, Billy Rodgers, Caryn Oertwig, Renee Friedrich, Carolyn Foster, Ruth Johnson, Bill and Barb Beeson as well as Craig's family- parents Elaine and Bob , sister Andrea, and brother-in-law Brian , two Great Grandmothers, and numerous cousins and friends from both sides.
Shanna and DJ are being welcomed home by Shanna's grandparents Hazel and Virgil Beeson, Margaret Riddle, Bill Riddle, Fredda and Doyle Rodgers, her uncle Duane E. Garner, nieces Jennifer and KayLynn Johnson .
A memorial fund has been set up at Frontier Bank, 501 N. Colorado, Walsh, Colorado 81090.
