Sharon L. (Miller) Schmidt passed away on Monday, October 1, 2012 at the age of 46, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. She was born on January 18, 1966, in Johnson, Kansas to Harry Earl Miller, Jr. and Patsy Jeanne (Forgey) Miller.
Sharon lived in Walsh, Colorado from birth to age nine. In the summer of 1975 she moved with her family to Eads, Colorado until the summer of 1976, then she moved to Holly, Colorado until August of 1979. She then moved with her family to Syracuse where she resided until her untimely passing. She attended elementary school in Walsh, Eads, and Holly. She completed her Jr. High and High School years in Syracuse, and graduated in May of 1984. Sharon started working at the age of 13 as a housekeeper at the nursing home. She then moved to be a Nurses Aide and then onto a Medication Aide. After years of working in the Nursing Home she went to work at the Syracuse Sale Barn cooking for a short time, then went on to work at Love's Convenient Store from clerk to assistant manager for six years. She took time off to have her babies before returning to the workforce at Double J Convenient Store as a manager from 1999 to 2002. In March of 2003, she joined the ranks of the Hamilton County Sheriffs Office as a jailor, dispatcher, office manager, and juvenile intake officer. Along with those various job duties she was very dedicated to the Cadets Program. In her spare time she also became an EMT and worked with the Hamilton County Volunteer EMS service from 2004 until her passing. In mid summer of 2012 she began working as a crop surveyor for the State Of Kansas. On July 23, 1988, she married Michael Schmidt, to this union three sons were born, Jason, Austin, and Trey. Over the years Sharon's home also became "home" to many "unofficial" foster children and foster grandchildren.
Sharon was a member of the Kansas Sheriff's Association, Kansas Emergency Medical Tech, Kansas State Fire Fighter Auxiliary, and Kansas Emergency Medical Services. Sharon enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and had a great enjoyment being the "family photographer" as well as traveling on the family vacations.

Graveside Services will be held on Friday, October 5, 2012 at 10:30 AM (MDT) at the Walsh Cemetery, Walsh, Colorado.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2012 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM (MDT) at Fellers Funeral Home LLC, Syracuse.
