Spencer Perry Hegwood, 69, was born on September 8th, 1951 to Lester and Doris (Perry) Hegwood at the hospital in Boise City, Oklahoma. He was the third of four boys, and grew up on the family ranch west of Boise City. He went to be with the Lord on December 14, 2020.

Spencer graduated from Boise City High School in 1969. On January 24th, 1973, he married Dixie Schroder at the Hope Lutheran Church in Boise City, Oklahoma. Shortly after, Spencer and Dixie moved to the family farm near Vilas, Colorado. To this union, two children were born, Delilah and J.D.

After moving to the farm, Spencer worked for Dale and Doris Schroder drilling water wells and farming. He also worked drilling shot holes for seismograph companies.  Spencer loved telling stories of his days traveling the many states drilling wells. He was never afraid of hard work and after returning home, he continued to farm and drill water wells for the rest of his life.

Spencer's pride and joy were his five grandchildren. Poppy, as he was known, enjoyed teaching his grandkids many life skills and lessons. Spencer was very proud of his family, loved life, and always had a smile on his face.

In recent years, he enjoyed traveling with his grandkids on several adventures. He also  loved the many memories made while taking trips to Hawaii and Mexico with dear friends Darrell and Susie Mackey.

Spencer is survived by his wife of 47 years, Dixie; daughter, Delilah (Clint) Myers of Springfield; son, J.D. (Melissa) Hegwood of Meade, Kansas; grandchildren, Braelen and Dillon Fisher, Kendall Myers, Treven and Trace Hegwood; brother, Wesley Hegwood of Canyon, Texas;  and many nieces and nephews. Spencer is preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law Dale and Doris Schroder; and brothers, Jason, and Gary.
