IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Steven Glen
Mccall
July 24, 1973 – October 20, 2021
Steven Glen McCall of Walsh, CO passed away on October 20, 2021, at the age of
48. He was the second child of Glen and Karen McCall, born in Walsh, CO on July
24, 1973.
Steve attended Walsh Public School system and graduated in 1992. He went on to
the University of Southern Colorado in Pueblo for two years, and then transferred
to Oklahoma Panhandle State University where he graduated in 1997 with a
bachelor's degree in Agronomy. Following his college graduation, he returned to
Walsh, to work on his family's farm while starting his own dirt work business.
Following the passing of his father in 2002, he and his brother, Chris, took over the
family farm and created Double M Farms. They were a dynamic duo that built
their farm into what it is today. There wasn't anything that they couldn't
accomplish when they set their minds to it. They never backed down from a
challenge and knew that together they could do anything. Nothing put a smile on
Steve's face more than harvesting a bumper crop at the end of a long, hard growing
season.
Steve always had a desire to become a private pilot. He started flying lessons when
he was in High School, but spare time for that became scarce during college and
young adulthood. He started flying again in 2012 and received his private pilot
license in March of 2013. He enjoyed taking people up for a "birds eye view" of
Baca County.
His three greatest passions in life were farming, flying, and his family. Steve
always loved to push the limits on everything he did, while doing it safely. He
always seemed to know how to get the maximum performance out of everything in
life. Any time he was presented with a challenge, he worked hard to find a solution
to the problem, because giving up was not an option.
Steve will be so greatly missed by his family and friends. Steve is preceded in
death by his father Glen, grandparents Eugene and Alma McCall, Leon and Virgil
Harlan.
Steve is survived by his mother Karen, sister Shawna Nottingham (Bruce),
brother Chris McCall(Kaylea), two nephews Rylan and Gavin McCall, and great
friend, Colleen Killbreath.
