Toby Dale Kandt was born January 17, 1985, in Walsh, CO to Dale and Beth Kandt. He departed this life January 1, 2025.

Toby began hunting and fishing with his parents and his grandpa, Calvin Scott, who he referred to as his best buddy, at a very young age. He carried his love for the outdoors all his life and made many memories with his friends and family doing what he loved. His love for hunting naturally led to a love for guns. He collected hundreds of guns throughout his life and loved to sit around talking about and playing with them with his buddies. As soon as he was old enough, he joined the 4-H trap shooting team and found a passion for trap and sporting clays. In 2001, at the age of 16, he won the national sporting clay competition. He continued shooting in and winning trap and sporting clay competitions right up until a few weeks before his death. Toby loved the comradery he found with his shooting buddies and began passing that joy on to the next generation when he became a coach for the Baca County 4-H shooting team in 2023. He took great pride in all of the kids he coached and had big plans for the Cat Creek Shooting Club, which he helped found with some of his closest friends.

Toby was a beloved uncle to two nieces as well as many other kids who adopted him as "Uncle Tob." He loved kids and loved spoiling them even more.

Toby was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Karl and Alice Kandt and maternal grandfather Calvin Scott. He is survived by his parents Dale and Beth Kandt, sister Taylor (Jason) Spitzer and nieces Maggie Dale and Olivia Spitzer as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was a kind, generous, fun-loving man and he will forever be missed by all who knew him.
