Virginia was born in Two Buttes Colorado on November 19 th , 1923 to Landon Green Harper and Aurilla Jane Jones Harper. Her funeral was on Jan 30 th , 2020 at Walsh Baptist Church. Her interment took place at Two Buttes Cemetery the same day.

Virginia was a resident of Two Buttes her whole life. She was third generation of her family to live  here.  She attended all 12 years of school in Two Buttes where she was active in Band, and Half Court Basketball . She also was a baton twirler and graduated in 1940.  She did attend one year of Junior College.

She married Eldon James Campbell  on August 7 th , 1940.  They were blessed with three children, Eldon James Jr. In 1943, Patricia Jane in 1945, and Michael Kent in 1951.

They made their home in Two Buttes where they ran the grocery store and farmed. They eventually sold the store and remained farmers the rest of their lives, where Virginia helped in the field and drove truck in harvest.

Virginia was a faithful wife and mother. She spent her entire life helping and caring for her family and others.  She was a member of Two Buttes Methodist Church where she was very active. She was also a member of the U.M.W.. They met twice a month and embroidered  pillow cases and hand quilted quilts that they sold at their Dec. auction to raise money to support the church and missions. She was also a member or the  Rebecca Lodge.  She was a 4-H leader and helped at the fairs. She was also a judge for the Lamar and Holly 4-H Fairs.

Virginia had many hobbies. Square dancing, China painting, Gardening and Canning which blessed her neighbors, friends and family with everything she canned, Cooking, Sewing, but her passion was quilting. She made many quilts for family, friends and babies.

Virginia and Eldon were very interested in the history of Baca co. and the Two Buttes Dam. She continued collecting and preserving the history until she was unable to do so.  She was happy to share what she knew and gave a lively program about Two Buttes history and the dam. She told of the settlers and the plans for building the dam  and ditches for irrigation . This was accomplished with only men, animals and dump wagons, it was an amazing effort. They relied on rain water  to fill the reservoir but those hopes did not materialize until later.
