Zelda Burdges of Walsh, Colorado, left this life September 23, 2010, in Garden City, Kansas, at the age of 97 years, 11 months, and 12 days of age.
Zelda was born in Patrick, Arkansas, on October 11, 1912. She was the first born to Green Hall and Grace (Patrick) Hall. In the years that followed, two more daughters and three sons were added to the Hall family.
On July 26, 1935, Zelda married Carroll Burdges in Prairie Grove, Arkansas. They moved to Plains, Kansas, where they lived for two and one-half years before moving to Colorado in the Buffalo Community to farm. They continued farming until 1997 when the rented out the farm and moved to town.
Zelda and Carroll enjoyed their forty years together on the farm and their twenty-two years in Walsh. They enjoyed their many travels around the nation which were joyous and rewarding. Fishing and bowling were major recreations for them.
Zelda was a member of the Buffalo Community Ladies Club for 60 plus years. She was a member of the Walsh Methodist Church. Zelda enjoyed several crafts, which included; ceramics, flower arrangements, painting and decoupage. Her favorite hobby was bowling. She was a member of a bowling team that traveled to numerous National Bowling Tournaments in several states. She bowled for forty plus years and then bowled part time even when she was ninety years of age.
Zelda was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll; her parents, Green and Grace Hall; two brothers, Roy and Rex Hall and two sisters, Irene Sanders and Dean Giles.
Survivors include, her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Maxine Burdges of Crowley, Colorado; daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Tom Vinton of Amarillo, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Lavonne Hall of Prairie Grove, Arkansas; brother-in-law, William Giles of Prairie Grove, Arkansas; sister-in-law, Francis Hall of Magnolia, Arkansas; four grandsons, Kevin Burdges and wife, Barbara of Buena Vista, Colorado; Jeff Hagler of Walsh, Colorado; Adam Hagler of Amarillo, Texas; Max Dapron and wife, Nancy (Williams) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; one granddaughter, Brenda (Dapron) Homsher and husband, Frosty of South Fork, Colorado; great-grandchildren, Autumn and Acacia Hagler of Canyon, Texas; Sean, Heather and Misty Burdges of Buena Vista, Colorado; FG (Melody) Homsher of Guam; Landry (Trena Brown) Homsher of Mesa, Arizona; Brock (Carolyn) Homsher of Englewood, Colorado; great- great grandchildren, Shiloh, Karis, Stephen and Titus Homsher. Zelda is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. She will be sadly missed by all her friends and family.
